About this scholarship

What it is

The Chinese Government Scholarship, run by the China Scholarship Council for the Ministry of Education, funds around 15,000 international students a year at more than 280 designated Chinese universities, for bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in every field — engineering, medicine, computing, agriculture, economics, Chinese studies and the rest. Somali students have held it for years; the Chinese Embassy in Mogadishu hosts a reception for its scholars each summer.
